Subject: Re: OCA (Organization of Chinese American) - Nancy Fitch
Nancy Fitch, our VP for membership recently became ill with leukemia.
Her life and hope are dependent on a successful bone marrow transplant.
The chance of obtaining a bone marrow match is 1 in 50,000 to 1 in 100,000.
You or any of your friends could help to make a match.
Tzu Chi Pittsburgh is going to conduct their third annual donor
registration drive on March 15, 1998 (9 am to 5 pm) at Mellon Institute,
Oakland. Tzu Chi is the largest Chinese donor data bank (160,000) and
provides the best chance to find a matched donor for Nancy or other Chinese
patients. Please pass this message to your Chinese friends and urgent them
to support this drive. We should encourage our fellow Chinese (or Asian)
who are 18 but younger than 60 to join the donor registration program.
For your information, the following is a Tzu-Chi Bone Marrow Drive schedule
in the US. Thanks.
John
