Time: Mar 15 1998 Sun 10:00am-3:30pm
place: Mellon Institute Social Room, Bellefield Ave, Oakland

This could only be once in a life time chance, to save someone's life....

Dear friends:
We are organizing a bone marrow registry drive on Sunday, March 15 to save
the lives of the following patients and more than 2000 others throughout
the world.
They are waiting desparately for donors with matching tissue types to
help with their
battles against cancer. Don't wait - time is running out on them! You
can help too!
A brief biography on three patients:
1. Leukemia patient, Nancy Fitch:
Nancy Fitch (41 years old) came from Taiwan, now living in Pittsburgh.
She is married with two sons (5 and 7 years old). She is also diagnosed
with leukemia last year.
2. Leukemia patient, Cindy Moy:
Cindy Moy (27 years old) came from mainland China. She is a graduate of
New York University. After diagnosis of leukemia a year ago, she has
undergone intensive chemotherapy. Now, a bone marrow transplant is the
only hope to save her life.
3. Aplastic Anemia patient, Der Jen Huang:
Der Jen Huang is 4 years old boy with dysfunctional immune system. The
boy's parents contacted our Tzu-Chi free clinic hoping to find a
matching bone marrow donor for him.

You may have a chance to save this person's life...........!

Tzu-Chi foundation of the Pittsburgh Chapter is hosting a Bone Marrow
Registry Drive at Mellon Institute, Oakland. To see if your tissue
type matches with the patients', only 10 ml of blood will be drawn at this
time for testing of HLA (human leukocyte antigen). We will have
state-registered nurses and professionals to provide services and address any
of your concerns. Complementary beverages and snacks will be provided.
After a month, if your HLA were matched with the patient, you
would be given an informational session to help you make an informed
decision about donating only 5% of your bone marrow to the patient
(No operation needed).
