**22 days till Showtime**
Our party in Mount Rainier is going ballistic. And it is here that Mike
Lawson can't be stopped. Besides lining out a killer sound system and 10
foot tall stage, he has also booked 4 other bands such that the Bilenky
Boys then complete our evening with their high electricity swing tunes.
And if you can't dance swing, Mike has even organized a 15 minute lesson
that will get you enough of the basics to have fun. And finally NBG 2000
will leave Washington DC with an all bands jam session that all of the
performers have not only agreed to but are excited about.
And that is only one of the stages. On yet another stage, he wants to
place the Joe's Movement exhibition dancers (Big Stick Dance, Contact
Improv, etc). This will allows us to keep the action non stop as these
performers fill in the only break between the main stage musicians and
speakers and the high energy bicycle air show that Kool Stop has helped us
to buy. While all the while clowns, jugglers and stilt walkers will mix in
with the crowds in this monster three block long street fair.
If that's not enough, besides contracting a local volunteer youth program
to clean up the city before we get there, Mike's even working on other
kids to get them to dedicate their mural work on some of the walls they
are painting to a bicycle theme and the NBG. Leaving no stone unturned
besides the free camping he has organized for those arriving by bike, Mike
is even setting up behind the scenes interview rooms so the press can
interview some of our riders and other NBG principals and event
performers. As much as we can get into print about all of the above is at
(you can also hear demo tapes from the bands):

And that's just the party. In terms of getting our downtown rally
connected from the Capital to the Mount Rainier party above and to the
four other staging areas that riders will be coming in from, Brian
Robinson of the Friends of Old Takoma has been busy getting all of the
routing information on to the web. If you go to:

and click on the staging areas from which we will be collecting, you can
see the beautiful work Brian has done.
