The most asinine example of this is in Delaware, southbound I-95, at
exit 3 (Newark exit, route 273).  It is 4 lanes, right lane is
exit only, but there IS a lane there, just painted white lines blocking
that lane for about 200 meters, then the painted stripes disappear, and
the right lane reappears, OK to use.

This creates situations where trucks are forced to make a lane change
over one lane for a few hundred meters, only to just make another
lane change back to their original right lane.

And I've heard (and seen) numerous times that improper lane changes are what
causes the most accidents on interstates.
