Gee whiz.  I post a one-paragraph statement to the effect that I like posting
to the Internet newsgroups and I am instantly depicted as some sort of freak
by someone who is -- and this cracks me up, it does -- POSTING TO INTERNET
NEWSGROUPS.

I'd be happy to discuss "cool things I do that don't involve computers."
I'm not, however, going to do so in the context of "proving that I'm not
a geek, even though I post the the net."  I mean, how utterly lame.

I read and write in the newsgroups because I enjoy it.  I really can't
think of any other reason why someone would bother -- unless they were
compulsive and neurotic.  If that makes me a geek in your eyes, ok fine,
I'm a geek.  Yipee, you win.

Finally, the reason why I haven't trotted out more worthwhile aspects of
my life is that I don't really want to subject them to your clumsy, small-
minded attacks.  All you really know about me is that I like posting to
the net and you've done nothing but try to depict this as pathological.
This is despite the fact that my interest in reading and posting is probably 
the one thing I have in common with everyone else here, including you.
