Code Warrior 7 and older Palm OS SDKs

Hi all,

is it possible to customize CodeWarrior 7 to use a Palm OS SDK older
than the shipped Palm OS SDK 3.5? For example, could the Palm OS SDK
3.1 be used instead of Palm OS SDK 3.5? How do I tell it CodeWarrior?

Many thanks in advance,
Michael

It should be possible, but this combination hasn't been tested by
Metrowerks.

You can download old versions of the Palm OS SDK from Palm's site at
http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/tools/archive.html. You can unpack the
SDK and change your project to point to its directory. You may want to
inspect the stationery files and use them as a base for your projects.

However... why do you want to use an older SDK? In general, you should
always use the most recent Palm OS SDKs to develop; currently, that is
SDK 4.0. You do realize that a newer SDK can be used to develop for
older OS versions -- using SDK 4, you can create programs that will work
back to Palm OS 1.0 devices.

I 2nd this. The newer header files are much nicer as they contain more
type checking.

Ben, Tod,

ok so far (downloading old Palm OS SDK 3.1 and installing it), but do
you have any idea where I can get a Palm OS SDK 3.1 stationery for
CodeWarrior 7? I have checked my installation and there is only a Palm
OS SDK 3.5 stationery.

Thank you,
Michael

Contact Metrowerks technical support -- they should be able to send you
a copy of the stationery files from CodeWarrior for Palm OS 6.
