CW7 Serial Question

I have an application that uses the serial port to control a custom
piece of gear( hard coded to 34,000 8, N, 1). I am using CW7, 3.5SDK and
the old serial manager (the palms are 111e's with 3.1 - non-flashable).

I need to send a short string like "!|01C\r\n" out the serial port. I
have all the serial code working okay only it seems to work off and on.
I have the same application running in VB on a Windows laptop and it
runs perfectly. I have used a serial program called "Online" to send the
command on the palm. With that program, if I type in the characters and
hit return(send) nothing happens. Then when I put the string into a
macro on that same software I get the same problem as on the palm,
sometimes it works and sometime it does not. The software has a feature
called "PACE" and when I set the Pace function to a higher setting,
suddenly it send the macro and my equipment send backs the correct
response every single time.

What their help manual says is it sends one character at a time with
short waits in between characters. What i want to know, it this feature
of the Palm OS or a routine I would have to write?

Thanks,

james,

To 'pace' your output you would have to try either 2 stop bits (does the
Palm do that, would have to look it up.) Or sprinkle more code to emulate
it.

To wit:

SrmSend one char...
SrmSendWait for the char to complete...
SysTaskDelay some amount to time between characters.

On second thought the SrmSendWait might not be needed, but IMHO would be
more correct.

The bottomline may be that the device has a software UART and can't handle
back to back bytes.

As such you can just toss some string into the output buffer and let it fly.

Non Standard Baud Rate.
The actual being provided (I think) is 33445.
The next step up will be 34,560.
