Tonight KATU released a new statewide poll of 600 likely Oregon voters
on measure 9:

  60% NO
  34% yes
   6% undecided

Margin for error 4%.

The only area of the state where 9 is leading (55%) is in Southwest Oregon.
The No on 9 campaign has targeted this area of the state for a media
blitz featuring a new commercial by Dave Frohnmeyer (brother of the
former NEA head), former attorney general of Oregon and unsuccessful
Republican candidate for governor in '90, and his father, who blast
this hateful measure and point out that, if it is passed, Oregon will
become known as the Discrimination State.

In interviewing the Lonster on the results, KATU made a sly little
editorial point about the OCA by tightly focusing on a sculpture,
prominently displayed on Mabon's desk, of a figure with a giant
sword about to finish off a helpless prone figure.

Says it all, really.

On a sad note: there have been 433 hate crimes recorded in Oregon so
far this year, already more than occured in all of last year.
