And why tin and lynx > will rule foreer. I use lynx a *lot* in the course of a day, but I've mostly given up on tin - there are *better* newsreaders available. tin's got it's good points, but with MT-NewsWatcher I can download and read multiple newsgroups and threads simultaneously (read one newsgroup's messages while downloading another set, download a newsgroups headers without getting the messages, grab binaries if I need 'em while reading other newgroups, etc. The MT in the name indicates "multi-threaded.") The filtering (regexp-based!) is nice, too. I don't necessarily agree with a *UNIX* proficiency test, but a basic understanding of why it's really *stupid* to upload binaries in non-binary groups, general network architecture, general (basic) security for whatever platform they're using, etc. There should be a question on the test as to why it's stupid to reply to a spammer, too. I've been having fun for the last few weeks tracking down the script kiddies who keep scanning various networks for NetBus or Back Orifice servers. Don't they have anything better to do? -- Send me junk mail, and get a nastygram for your provider. John Groseclose (caradoc@neta.com) http://www.neta.com/~caradoc
