		Data-Parallel Programming on a Network
		    of Heterogeneous Workstations

			   Michael J. Quinn
		       Oregon State University

ABSTRACT:
We are convinced that the data-parallel programming style has many
advantages over the more primitive programming paradigms embodied in
commercial MIMD languages. Our past research has described the
implementation of data-parallel languages on multicomputers and
multiprocessors. In this talk I will describe how we modified the
multicomputer-targeted Dataparallel C compiler and run-time system to
enable us to run programs on a heterogeneous collection of UNIX
workstations.

BIOGRAPHY:
Michael J. Quinn is an associate professor of computer science at
Oregon State University. He received his Ph.D. in computer science
from Washington State University in 1983, and from 1983 to 1989 he was
an assistant professor at the University of New Hampshire. He is this
the author of two books and numerous research papers in the area of
parallel computing.
