I recently purchased a "Sound Field Processor" a.k.a. "Surround Sound
Processor" primarily for enjoying surround effects on movies. It is a
Yamaha E200.
I have invested a fair amount of money in a good audio system and I
really want to avoid puting this processor in between my pre-amp and
amp. I expect that the E200 will affect the signal even if turned off
not to mention the effect of added inter-connect cabling.
Alternate routings I could think of included:
1) running my Video's audio source directly to the E200 and then
connecting the E200's output to my video-in on the pre-amp.
2) running my Video's audio source into the pre-amp, out again to the
E200 and then back into the pre-amp as a new "modified source"
(this would be similar to how a tape deck is connected if you
wish to monitor the actual recording).
So three questions:
A) Are my assumptions that the E200 will affect the signal (i.e. not
a straight pass through) correct.
B) Depending on (A) might it be worth while to invest in decent
inter-connect and include the E200 between the pre-amp and amp?
(this is likely a personal taste issue but I like opinions)
C) Are there better routing alternatives that will be better for the
Video's audio source and possibly make my life easier in controlling
audio levels during usage.
Thanks in advance,
-Christian

My Opinions are my own and you may borrow them, if you wish,
but I want them back when you're done.
