Double-butted spokes?

Hello netters!!! I'm looking for relatively inexpensive ways to shed
weight from my road bike. It's a Cannondale (no flames PLEASE!)
Racing 600 (3.0 frameset) and I've done all I can think of, but
someone suggested that I rebuild my wheels using double-butted spokes.
Does any one know how much (percentages, please) this will shave from
my wheels? Also, I've heard all kinds of rumors/advice concerning the
pros/cons of rotating mass. Is less better or not?? Any other
advice/opinions/ideas would also be appreciated.

E-mail replies are preferred, but I have no trouble reading
rec.bicycles, though my site doesn't get the rest of the groups.

Thanx in advance,
Cj

Don't forget the rider. You'ld save more weight by having a crap.

Yeah, but that is *not* rotating mass. Unless, of course, you run
over it and get it stuck between the treads.

Sorry, folks. Couldn't resist.

Percentages? How about between 1 and 1.5 ounces per wheel. Ballpark
figure.

Less is better. Put on a cheap wheel (steel rims?). It's a difference you
can feel.

Shhhhh, better not let Eric hear you say that. You may be able to taste,
see, smell, or hear the difference, but you sure as hell can't feel
the difference.
