  Does anybody know anything about a list of all species of known birds on
the net (ftp...)? Is anybody interested in one?

Yes, there is interest. No, there isn't one, to my knowledge. (I can
provide you with the AOU Check-List and you can get the ABA checklist
on a floppy for $9).
We've discussed this before. To be useful, it must be a commonly used
checklist, i.e. Clements or Sibley&Monroe. We got stuck on copyright
issues and on the sheer effort of typing it in.
