personally, i would like to hear more about the actual (which is to say, knowable through historical documentation) history of balloon making. what were the first balloons used for twisting (ive heard pig bladders were the original toy balloon, but what about latex balloons? presumably this begain with the colonization of parts of the world which grow/produce rubber). what shape balloon was first -- round, or elongated? are there period images or illustrations of early balloons? who first twisted one into a character shape? were they first drawn on faces, etc? did magicians first twist animals? i'd like to know more about this, in an idle sort of way. i would welcome any references, or information you might have. l.
