well, Christmas is passed. I have a wonderfull wife in that she knew exactly
what to get me. For I am now the proud owner of 3 juggling clubs. and have spent
most of the weekend trying to figure them out.

just a note to anybody who's trying 3 ball tricks and 4 ball at all. once you
try clubs for a few days, you'll find that your ball tricks are even firmer than
before. (now if I could only throw and catch 3 clubs without walking foward,
club juggling isn't ment to be a track sport)

(now lets see, where did I put that address for IJA)

I too, have a wonderful wife, who got me torches. 11 p.m. Christmas Eve
night, sub-freezing temperature and a bitter wind, no jacket, no gloves,
just me and my new torches in the front yard. Hard to get fingers to
work in the cold, but the torches warmed me a little. There's nothing
like flaming pins to impress others and yourself. The whoosh of the
     flame spinning by is exhilarating!

I've learned 4-ball in the past semester (what else would I do in my
first semester of grad school?). I've noticed that time seems
slower now. Either the gravitational constant has changed, the Earth's
mass has decreased, or my brain is working quicker.

Don't be so sure! There's something called "joggling" that I saw
once on ESPN late at night and never again. I saw a guy doing a
100m dash while juggling five balls. I don't think I could even
juggle three balls back then so my eyes were falling out of my
head in disbelief.

Anyone know if that juggler was Owen?

Yes, I believe it was. A while back I taped this segment (from "Amazing Games",I think) where they had visited one of the IJA conventions ('87 or '89?). They
showed Owen taking several attempts at it, along with Billy Gillen (or am I
confusing this with a different segment from the Guinness tv show? I'll have
to check). Owen's record is 13 seconds plus a little bit, which is quite
incredible since the vast majority of people cannot run that fast with their
hands empty, myself included. His three ball record is 11.68!
A couple people ran it with five in Montreal this year, and last year in St.
Louis Billy Gillen ran it with seven! He stopped quite a bit to pick up drops,
but always carefully restarted with a good pattern, and finished in between 2
and 3 minutes. If you're curious about joggling, give it a try. You don't needa particularly great 3 ball pattern, and it's great exercise for the whole body.-Ben

just wait until you learn 5 balls!!! I've actualy heard that
"attempting" seven improves your 5 ball pattern. After learning 5,
juggling three feels funny! I should try learning some goofy 3 ball
tricks now.
