Shortly before Christmas, I was working in Glasgow and decided to pay a visit one lunchtime to a shop I'd seen advertised in "The Catch" magazine. I was very impressed with both the stock and the service, hence this message. Full details are as follows: The Big Top 45 King Street (off Argyle Street, behind The Tron) Glasgow G1 5RA Phone: 041 552 7763 According to their promotional leaflet, they stock the following: automata, unicycles, old-fashioned toys, puppets, kaleidoscopes, juggling equipment, flying objects, clothing, circus paraphernalia They've only been open for some two months, so pop in & give them your support! Ed Broom ..but smart old Blue he took the Milky Way.

Graham (who opened the shop) used to be with FireNoise, used to be a computer consultant runnning a small software company down here, very respectable but with a definite interest in weird things. It's good to know that someone can dump a respectable and profitable job plus mortgage to be of service to other jugglers. Making all those other computer bods out there think? Someone from Nova Scotia posted asking about circus schools. In the UK there is Fool Time which runs small workshops, termly and yearly courses in circus skills including mime, acrobatics, trapeze and juggling. Their juggling and manipulation teacher is Haggis MaCleod (sp?). hey have just moved to new much larger premises and hope to incorporate with a local university to supply a degree course soon. Circus Space is in London and offers courses and workshops. Oftne weekend and day courses with outside teachers, occasional 6 week courses. Their an-Mar timetable was posted here recently. There are other courses and workshops as well as all the festivals here, but nothing so formal as the French or Russian circus schoools (yet). cheers ken =============================================================================== ZETIE@UK.AC.OX.VAX (Janet) = The opinions expressed above are ZETIE%VAX.OX.AC.UK@UKACRL.BITNET (Bitnet) = not necessarily those of any person ZETIE%VAX.OXFORD.AC.UK@NSS.CS.UCL.AC.UK = living, dead, undead or the subject (Internet) = of a Schrodinger's cat experiment.
