as someone who deals with this DAILY, a few tricks (the store I buy for handles
about 3,500 titles)-
1) get a free standing rack if possible
2) find out who your competitors are. GET TO KNOW THEIR DRIVERS. let them
know you will be 'hands off' if THEY will be hands off...(ie don't piss me off
and I won't pitch your mag)
3) find out who is IN CHARGE, ask them (it reaaaally helps when folks go to ME
for free stuff- if I see it, don't know it, I WILL pitch it). if they approve
(don't see why they shouldnb't- are you a FREE PUBLICATION or a giant ad?-
then if any of the staff hassles you- you can tell them "so and so aproved it"
(end of discussion you hope)
4) accept the fact that there are jerks in the world who throw stuff away...
5) ask about recycling (ie if there is any left- tell them you will RECYCLE
them (even if you don't it gives them the nice feeling that instead of TOSSING
you mag-- it will go to a 'better place')

hope this helps-
