Just came across another reference to the S.C.A. in a work of fiction:
_Fallen_Angels_ by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and Michael Flynn
describes the earth in a not-too-distant future when the inhabitants of
the space station and the earth-bound are at odds with each other. When
two space "angels" are accidentally marooned on earth, the science-fiction
community (and, in passing, the S.C.A. community) come to their rescue.
It's interesting to note that the staunch, anti-science earth authorities
were referred to as "'danes" (contraction of "mundanes") and their laws
as "danelaw". While the book's storyline is sort of mushy, the references
to fandom, classic s-f, and the S.C.A. kept me reading to the end.

Ta!
