From what I've heard and experienced, your first impressions were dead on.
The Hurache looks pretty cool, but is best worn on an exercise stepper or
for a trip to the Sip 'n' Go for a twinkie. I forgot my training shoes when
I went to practice once (Saucony), and had to use my friend's pair of
Hurache. We went six miles on road that day, and after two I was in serious
pain. The plastic strap on the back itches horribly, and digs into your
achilles as it tries to flex. There seems to be little or no adequate
cushioning, and after a few miles my feet felt really abused. Furthermore,
they don't have reflectors (for night buffs), they suck up standing water
like sump pumps, and have less traction than dogs on linoleum. But hey,
they *look* really neat!
