Simon,
I think that the essence of Traditional Scouting is that Baden-Powell
would recognise it as Scouting, the modern Scout Association is too
different to what he envisaged.
* We still wear a distinct uniform, the uniform is functional as well as
smart. Our Scouts have a pride in their uniform.
* We still use a lot of Baden-Powell's original testwork and structure
e.g. our Law and Promise are virtually identical to those of his time.
* We still use the Patrol as the fundamental organisational unit.
Youngsters in a 'gang' under the control of a leader, the PL. Pls and
APLs still do some of the training of members of their Patrol.
Yours in Scouting, Bruce Cockburn.
