Hi Ian,
That was a great response to the person asking for help with
material for Scouter's Five! I have saved and printed it for
future reference. Due to being a "semi-retired" ATL, I do not
see The Leader anymore, for such material. I'll get back to
Scouting one of these years, when the demand for coaching minor
hockey eases a little. (I miss the camps especially) Meanwhile,
my work location right beside the Scout Shop, here in Ottawa,
keeps me involved with requests to get badges and books.
But my main reason for replying is to ask you if you and
your group will be involved with JOTA. I see that you are a
ham so that prompted me to ask. I will be on from the site of
our BP Woodsman camp, with scouts from the area, which is
Carleton Place/Almonte. We have been setting up "Field Day" style for
the past 5 or 6 years now and it is great fun. Since it will
be my only chance to camp with the kids this year, I look
forward to it. I consider this time of year to be the best for
camping because it is the period "between the bugs and the boots"!
