Scott Smith (freestylist in SkyBlazin 92 whose rig deployed without his hands moving) describes his trick as the "spiral death trap" or something like that. His cameraman had a remote control with two buttons. They left the plane with their feet connected by a strap and pressing one button released their feet. Pressing the second button opened Scott's main remotely. It's a device he made himself, from an old A.A.D and some parts from Radio Shack (I think). He had lots of flour in his rig, so what you see is a puff a white smoke and a deploying canopy (look, ma, no hands). Think of what would have happened if the cameraman pressed the buttons in the wrong order!
