I am chasing accessories for an *old* Sony camcorder. Model is CCD-FX270E. The pieces wanted are: - 1 x car cigarette lighter power adapter to operate the camera (original part no: DCP-77) - 1 x car cigarette lighter power adapter to charge the camera batteries (original part no: DC-S10) Sony Australia tells me that these accessories are no longer available and they were not forthcoming with any advice about alternatives. Technical questions for those in the know: Are there any alternatives for the above items? If so, what are they? Who makes them? etc. etc. Also, importantly, can I get them in Australia? Otherwise, does anybody have any of the above lying around - perhaps part of a bundle which they may be interested in selling? Please post any/all responses to the lists and/or email to Wendy_Jerrard@bigfoot.com ( mailto:Wendy_Jerrard@bigfoot.com ). Many thanks in anticipation.

If you're desperate, perhaps you could make (or get someone to make) a regulated power supply that plugs into your car ciggy socket. I think sony camcorders require a 6 volt supply. How does the mains adaptor connect to the camera? If it's through a battery adaptor (i.e. a thingy that snaps on to the battery cradle and plugs in to the mains adaptor), you could use that and plug it into the newly-made PSU. 6 volts is a common voltage, a 7806 would easily handle it. You can probably get all the parts you need at dick smith or somewhere similar. to charge the batts.. well.. that I dunno. you could just use a dumb charger (the same regulated PSU running at maybe 6.5V). You'd have to make sure it doesn't overcharge though, or you could just limit the current.
