Here's your clue, turn your L1/L2 cache off and try the various bits of
software again. You may have to play with which cache to turn off (maybe
both at first). Once you have the machine running stably (albeit more
slowly), then experiment with cache read/write timing and wait states.
I am pretty sure this will be the answer to your prayers.
