I have a creative 8x cd-rom running of my ide controller at 0x170 and
interupt 15.

How can I get this to work with Linux, I have the latest Redhat cd's
(the one with metrox). I have been trying to get the cd recognised
so I can run the live file system to try out Linux on my machine.

Any help is appreciated.

Try booting with kernel options hdd=cdrom (or hdc=cdrom)

If that doesn't work, you will need a 1.3.20 or higher
kernel. These kernels you can give options to set the IRQ and address
