I don't know what it will cost now, but I've had Pac Bell ISDN for a very long time - so long, in fact, that the installation was free and all other kinds of goodies apply to my account.. A year ago, I was getting a LOT of Pac Bell ISDN for about $80 a month, most of my usage time was free. Then, it started going up, maybe due to changes in my LAN (a hungry Linux box running xntpd?) I did recently have some problems with my Pac Bell ISDN but I must say that in both instances, the repair personnel dispatched appeared to be very competent and did educate me as to how ISDN is delivered to "Robla" ..... they run digital out from downtown on fiber and there are "cards" between the fiber and the copper on each end. I watched the guy test my line and it ran 20 minutes without errors. That's all they have to do, and they do it. Heck, when it works, I'm moving some stuff at 144Kbps. Of course, when the thing dumps at 11:23 AM PT for 3 minutes or won't connect because of a "Temporary Redial Restriction", my place in the ISDN Digital Paradise of the New Millenium is clearly defined. I was told (and tend to believe) that I could get a T-1 at home (I have 6 pairs wired) but I can NOT have DSL and can only expect 93.2% ISDN. Richard http://www.reelradio.com
