View it this way: it sure can be worse than living in Sacramento. You could be living in say Bakersfield. Or Fresno? Or OH GOD! Stockton - yech! Or to really reach the bottom of the barrel, there's Milpitas, California. That's low! You know I remember coming down I-5 from the Trinity Alps/Shasta a few years back when I had to stop I believe in Williams to buy some gas. There was these I believe 10 or 12 year old kids riding bicycles around the station. The trip was that every one of em was dipping into that tobacco "snuff" (can't remember what the name was) and others were dipping into bags of RED-MAN (real to goodness chew). When I saw that, I knew it was time to get the gasoline as fast as possible and get the hell outta town!
