The odd thing about the "Tickle Me Elmo" phenomenon is that the target market (young children) will not be upset if they don't get one, or at worst will be placated with the explanation "Santa ran out of Elmos and will bring one by the house in two weeks". It is the parents who are driving this crazy price war. My wife SHOULD have bought one at KayBee the day after Thanksgiving but thought $25 (they were on sale at Target for $21.99) was too much, so we lost out. We have two kids in the right age range - ages 2 and 4, and they will be just fine on Christmas day without a "Tickle Me Elmo". The doll sells for $25 at the stores, and we have a raincheck at K-Mart for $23.99 just in case they jack the price up, too. They WILL come in after Christmas - they just didn't produce enough before Christmas. Why not stop this madness and just wait a couple of weeks? Just say NO to overpriced Elmo! Wait two weeks and buy one at the store instead!
