A thread about farm welfare payouts appeared off-topic in another
group and I thought it would be of interest here. The URL to look at
for California is: http://www.ewg.org/farm/certificate.php?stab=CA

Amazing the ag welfare.

I had an uncle, back in the farmlands of West Virginia, whose biggest decision
in the winter was whether NOT to plant potatoes or NOT to plant sugarbeets in
the spring. It all depended on what the subsidy was that year what he decided
NOT to plant.

On top of that, he was running an auto junkyard on the top of the farmland and
selling car parts on top of the land that he was NOT growing a crop on.

That sonofabitch had more money to waste on women, whiskey, wild times, and just
PISSING money away than any man I ever knew. (That's OK, my aunt was the same
way, too {;-) )
