If Compaq is only charging shipping and handling (probably less that $15 )
why would you raise the price $100 bucks just for getting the CD?
If Compaq is like Gateway then you probably would have to be the person who
gets the CD. That disk can be crucial since sometimes these machines have
proprietary drivers, so if the new owner wants to make any changes, such as
using an ethernet card they need the disk, or the whole system can crash (I've
had it happen). I had problems installing a 3-com ethernet card on a Gateway
machine; when I contacted 3-com they told me I had to work with Gateway
because our bovine friends had proprietary drivers.

Mike are you looking to buy a laptop? You are right I dought I'd charge $100
and if you bought the computer I'd get you the disk. As for gateway you get
what you pay for. Compaq seems to be customer friendly which is why you
don't see many of their used laptops for sale on the net. As for the drivers
yes
this disk is needed to restore the compaq drivers and the original bundled
software.
