Hi, I'm a social worker in Toronto, and the agency I work for has offices in several high schools here. I'm looking for any advice, examples, experience, and/or resources on for-profit businesses run by high school students. Please send any replies to my e-mail: gv@interlog.com Thanks in advance for your replies, Geert, in Toronto.

We are a non-profit that has been teaching entrepreneurship in schools, camps, community organizations and recreation centers for the last 5 years. Most of our classes have run businesses such as concession stands, school stores, lawn services, hair care products, flea market booths, etc. We offer a course for teachers via correspondance (3 semester-hour credits, graduate) to train teachers to offer classes like ours to teach career skills through entrepreneurship; see the course syllabus and details on registration at http://way.opens.org/teachercourse . We also sell a curriculum package, Own the Place! which includes an 80+ page teachers' manual plus masters so that you can reproduce as many student workbooks (52 pages of exercises), tests, and business plan outlines as you need within your site. See http://way.opens.org/owntheplace Hope this helps! I'll be glad to answer questions about our program, materials, or course.
