Perhaps things have changed. I tried doing it in 1970 and was denied.

Today I live in Las Vegas. When I was young and looking to get a head
start on things, I lived on a 40,000 working cattle ranch in the middle of
nowhere Oregon and 60 miles just from my high school. We didn't have phone
service or television, let alone "distance ed" opportunities. And in
the winter you either rode a horse or flew a plane in and out of the
ranch. We didn't have a plane. We had a relay of horses and pick-ups
on either end of the entrance/exit. I *really* lived in the sticks.

Doubtful. I know that's not true for Nevada and Oregon (and Nevada is in
dire need of teachers, perhaps more so than any other place in the
nation). Perhaps you could provide us with some info.
