I asked a question on these newsgroups a while back and recieved a tremendous reply, I'd like to thank everyone for replying, and I will post my report as many people asked me to when I am done with it. It is about why people want to be teachers. I was wondering if any teachers out there could answer these questions for me. 1. What do teachers out there trhink about this passage from the bible, as it relates to teachers? Do you think that teachers do not actually "heal" or make the kids learn, but by "faith" or their own abilities they learn? The Cleansing of Ten Lepers. As he continued his journy to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ,ten lepers met [him]. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying, Jesus, Master! Have pity on us! And when he saw them, he said, Go show yourselves to the priests. As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God? Then he said to him, stand up and go; your faith has saved you. (Luke 17:11-19) 2. What do you think abouit the salaries of teachers? People always say that they make very little, but what do you think? How much do you make? Do you think that this is a small amount in general, or that for the work done, you should be paid more? (I don't mean to get too personal by asking how much you make, but just so I can get an idea about wages across the nation and world. If you don't like to release this info, don't feel obligated, that one question isn't as important as the others.) 3. Back to the Bible verse, have you ever had any students return to you and thank you for your help in their learning? What grade do you teach? How many years/months/days/hours/minutes/seconds/anything smaller/etc. afterwards did they thank you? How did you feel? That's it! If you could please relpy ASAP, I would appriciate it. I want to put in something into the paper, but need to have people confirm my ideas and thoughts before I say it. Thank you very much! Thank you for being a teacher, you have no idea how you have affected the lives of your students. -- -- roe@thevision.net Do you believe in Macintosh?
