The Summer 1990 issue of SeaScope (a 4-page newsletter that you can get
for free in some fish stores) lists the results of an analysis by an
"independent laboratory experienced with salt water testing." The
levels of phosphorus found in water mixed from various brands of salt
mix was as follows:

    Instant Ocean 0.19 mg/L
    Forty Fathoms 0.35 mg/L
    Marine Environment 0.71 mg/L
    Tropic Marin 0.23 mg/L

    Natural Sea Water 0.07 mg/L

Caveats:

    1. They broke the analysis down by element (phosphorus) rather than
ion (phosphates). Still, the relative values should be
       indicative of relative phosphate levels.

    2. SeaScope is published by the manufacturer of Instant Ocean.
