Lunar Eclipse Observing
GSU's Hard Labor Creek Observatory
Sunday evening, 29 November, from 7:30 p.m. until 2 a.m.
GSU's Hard Labor Creek Observatory is the largest observatory complex
in the southeast, and the dark-sky location most conveniently accessible
from Atlanta. Observing will be conducted with the observatory's large
telescopes, and also with an assortment of Society telescopes on the
observatory lawn. (The large observatory building proper is also fully
climate-controlled with restrooms, and is handicapped-accessible -- not
so the interior telescopes, unfortunately)
To reach HLCO, travel east on I-20 to exit 49. Turn left and follow
the signs into Hard Labor Creek state park. Continue straight through
the park, crossing a bridge with a lake to the left about 2 miles past
the park entrance. One half mile further, a dirt road exits to the
right and leads to the observatory.
