Hurricanes would most likely not occur, but tornadoes possibly could. Actually, I take that back... with the moon-earth system's tidal forces, there might be some minor (Corealis) effect. (not to mention the sun's tidal force...) There would probably be storms... water would still evaporate over water-rich warm areas, and condense over colder areas. Tidal force could carry water-rich air (read: energy) over mountain ranges, causing orographic precipitaton. (Or is that orthographic? it's been over a decade since that HS science class!) My cup of coffee doesn't have rotation, yet if I heat one side of it, a convection current sets in.... Point is, all things held equal and just the rotation eliminated, the Earth is still part of a dynamic system of forces/energies... -mike -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mike Deliman <> miked@wrs.com <> phone: 510-748-4100 <> facs: 510-814-2164 Wind River Systems, 1010 Atlantic Ave, Alameda CA 94501 USA;http://www.wrs.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
