     The Perseid meteor shower peaks on the evening of August 12 and
the morning of August 13. This year the moon will interfere
somewhat with observing. For a nice webpage on information
about this "Old Faithful" of meteor showers, go to

That's odd. According to :
http://comets.amsmeteors.org/meteors/august_radiants.html
it's at 2000 Aug 12th at 02:40 UT (i.e. 2:40 a.m. GMT on the 12th and
21:40 EST on the 11th).
