Our lab; Dr. Paul Laybourn@Colostate University is currently researching yeast. We have been sphereoplasting the yeast cells with lyticase from the organism "Oerskovia xanthieolytica" (previously called Arthrobacter letus) but have run into some problems. We have been having a difficult time obtaining useable amounts of the enzyme from our cultures and feel that the glycerol stocks may have become contaminated, reference Journal of Bacteriology, May 1980, p 414-423. Anybody with any information on the xanthieolytica morphology or anybody that has used this orgainism, their help and assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you; Brian Krett (bkrett@lamar.colostate.edu)
