Does anyone know about any recent review papers, books,
conferences, etc. on symmetry in biological systems? Specifically, I
am interested in the developmental issues regarding generating
assymetrical forms, why our hearts are on one side of the body, how
come some people's hearts are on the other side, what the evolutionary
ramifications of various symmetries might be, etc. Also, I just read
that the chemicals acetazolamide and dichlorophenamide induce specific
abnormalities in the right forelimbs of rats. I find this hard to
believe. Is this true? Anyone have a reference? Please send all ideas
to mlevin@husc8.harvard.edu.
