I am a degreed chemist with several years of experience in process
development, quality control, and a strong background in research.
I have spent the last several years in the electronics and defense
industries where I have learned valuable process control and project
management skills and I am seeking a position as a technical
manager in a non-defense related industry.

While acquiring my degree I collected extensive biophysics and
physical chemistry research experience. I have significant
(i.e. expert) knowledge of chromatographic systems including ion
exchange, size exclusion, and chemical adsorption. I have
significant exposure to reverse osmosis, pervaporation, dialysis,
and membrane technologies, and I am a fairly competent
spectroscopist with expertise in X-ray diffraction, FTIR, circular
dichroism, atomic absorption and ICP, UV spectroscopy, and
fluorescence methods. I also have a fair degree of experience in
materials characterization including thermal analysis and tensile
tests.

My current post is in TIs Defense Electronics Group and I am a
senior member of a multidisciplinary team of process engineers.
Our group includes expertise ranging from process flow to mechanical
design and my contributions are material chemistry, processing, and
analysis. I recommend and test various materials and designs for
their ability to perform in a military environment (generally extreme
conditions), for their processing ease and cost, for reliability, and
for environmental and demilitarization concerns. I am responsible
for monitoring and improving various cleaning, bonding, coating,
forming, and assembly operations on equipment ranging from missile
airframes to circuit card assemblies to payloads.

I am also a member of a group referred to as the Six Sigma Blackbelt
Community. This groups mission is to provide statistical and
experimental design expertise to various business units and military
programs so that they may achieve low cost, high yield, defect free,
manufacturing processes. To this end we employ the tools of Total
Quality Management (TQM), Statistical Process Control (SPC),
Statistical Experimental Design (DOE), Response Surface Methods, and
Six Sigma Analyses. My forte is "out of the box" concept design and
process optimization. I pride myself on achieving elegant and simple
solutions rather than the more common Rube Goldberg solutions which
are commonplace in the chemical and especially the defense industries.
I do my share of calculations but strongly believe that designs should
always be supported not just by computations but whenever practical
and economical by scaled experiments. My research background gives
me a unique insight into process and quality problems which I have
noticed many engineers seem not to have. Experimental design
something easily taught but often not practiced, I have learned
through both classical and statistical methods to ferret out the root
cause of a problem in both a cost and time saving manner.

During the early part of 1993 through the end of 1995, I was the leader
of TI's Chemical Specification team during design and ramp-up of new
wafer fabs in Avezzano, Italy (AMOS6); Miho, Japan (MIHO8); and Dallas,
Texas (DP1/DMOS5). Our team designed ultraclean chemical delivery
systems, negotiated specifications with suppliers for raw materials
(mostly acids, photoresists, and gases), and implemented several closed
loop recycling systems for sulfuric and hydrochloric acids, process
water, and alcohol. My team was also responsible for reviewing best
practices at each of TIs facilities around the globe and choosing
standard processes to be implemented worldwide. We reduced both
process and administrative waste, implemented tracking and reporting
systems to measure process efficiencies, and by cherry picking the best
methods of each fab, achieved overall process improvements resulting in
enough increased production to equal the output of an entire factory.

You will find that I am an accomplished team leader, have better than
adequate communication skills in several languages, and am very capable
of mustering the resources and support necessary to not just complete a
project but to do it well. I am looking for a position where technical
excellence is valued. I need an environment where calculated risks are
acceptable. I will only accept a position which I have judged to be a
good long term fit for my personal and professional goals. I expect
solid growth opportunities and stability in exchange and commensurate
with the work I put into a project and I require challenges. I am most
happy working the project everyone else has deemed impossible.

Attached is my resume. Please review my credentials. I look forward to
hearing from you.
