It can be done.  It just takes commitment and cooperation between the
public, the politicians, and the scientific community.
It amazes me that we have had fission power plants for over forty
years now, and people still have this kind of fear of nuclear power.
Kind of reminds me how people used to electrocute dogs back in the
late 19th century to show how deadly a.c. electricity was.  They
were trying to show how foolish and deadly the idea of running it 
into your home would be.
