I am teaching organic chemistry to third and fourth year university students in biotechnology and chemistry who already had a basic course on organic chemistry. What I would like to do is to stress the parallelism between organic reactions in the flask and (bio)organic reactions in biological systems. E.g. I explain the general principles of enzymatic reactions by talking about crown-ether based enzymic mimics. Also I spend some time on the rational behind the use of catalytic antibodies. If you have any suggestions on interesting topics, or if you know about any good textbook covering the field, I would be delighted to know! Thanks in advance, Dr. Johan Van der Eycken University of Gent, Dept. Organic Chemistry Krijgslaan 281 (S.4), B-9000 GENT (Belgium) Fax: 32-9-264.49.98 E-mail: Johan.Vandereycken@rug.ac.be
