I know it sounds strange but I am looking for sources either natural or
synthesized of large cat 'spray'. And as pungent as possible!
I'm a conceptual artist who is interested in the
predatory/defensive/territorial behavior of animals. At the zoo I'm often
impressed by the penetrating smell that lingers around some of the large
cat cages. I understand that this is 'spray' or scent marking produced by
the 'anal' glands of the cats and mixed with their urine.
I would like to find out more about this and if possible obtain this scent
either in 'natural' or synthesised form. Can anyone point me in the right
direction?
Reply please by private email.
(If all else fails I would be happy with 'skunk' or 'civet' or anyother
pungent natural scent. Who can help me get a lead on biologists or chemists
who are familiar with these materials? Or point me to useful persons,
references or studies?)
