Dear Sir or Madame:
I am interested in finding a job opportunity as a Research
Scientist/Engineer in the area of Electrochemistry,
Electrodeposition, Electroplating, (Electro)Etching,
Corrosion, Fuel Cell or Battery Research, Electrotechnology,
Energy Conversion/Storage, Magnetic Recording Technology
Research (electrochemically oriented), etc. or in the area
of Analytical, Electroanalytical or Environmental Chemistry.
Currently, I am a graduating Ph.D. student in Analytical
Chemistry (with emphasis on Electrochemistry) at Miami
University with over 4 years of research and teaching
experience. I also hold a M.S. in Chemistry and Chemical
Engineering from Technical University of Gdansk
(specializing in Corrosion).
To introduce myself:
My most recent research experience was devising an
electrochemical detection scheme for heparin
(anticoagulating drug) suitable for detection in the
biologically relevant concentration range. I was solely
responsible for the lab work on this project. In our group,
exploring new grounds in novel electrodes, catalyst based
electrochemical sensor technology (including solid state
electrochemical systems based on organic as well as
inorganic polymeric electrolytes) and method development is
the primary goal, so the knowledge I have gained in my study
is readily applied to many other areas. In fact, my previous
project dealt with devising a bulk modified polishable
multifunctional (catalytic, ion exchange, nonspecific
interactions, etc.) composite electrode as a sensor for
various environmental pollutants as analytes. It required
designing a unique powdered graphite flow-through
modification cell as the heterogeneous catalyst was not
available as an isolated compound. My research in corrosion
science area was focused on migration of chloride ions in
reinforced concrete subjected to cathodic protection in
saline brine and in the area of long lived stable reference
electrodes capable of surviving high pH environments of
concrete installations for extended periods of time.
Through my research and teaching assignments I have gained
an experience with various spectroscopic and chromatographic
techniques as well. My research and teaching assignments
involved using following analytical instrumental techniques:
GC, GC-MS, HPLC, IC, LC-MS, AAS, GF-AAS, UV-Vis, IR, FTIR,
Fluorescence, Refractometry, FIA, CE, SFE, ICP-AES and most
electrochemical techniques including Coulometry,
Potentiometry, Chronopotentiometry, Chronoamperometry, CV,
DPV, SWV, Stripping Voltammetry (Analysis), Electrochemical
Impedance Spectroscopy, more...
As a Research Scientist/Engineer in interested company, I
would bring my knowledge of electrochemistry (most of known
techniques used in electrochemical and corrosional studies),
of electrocatalysis, of various electrode modification
techniques, of operation of sophisticated research
instrumentation, of computers and of instrument interfacing,
of data acquisition and analysis as well as my general
analytical skills. Furthermore, I work well with others, and
am experienced in use, troubleshooting and maintenance of
various analytical and electrochemical procedures and
instruments.
My unique blend of engineering background combined with
academic research experience should be a perfect addition to
R&D department of any company in Electrochemistry,
Electrodeposition, Electroplating, (Electro)Etching,
Corrosion, Fuel Cell or Battery Research, Electrotechnology,
Energy Conversion/Storage, Magnetic Recording Technology
Research (electrochemically oriented), etc. research
oriented industry as well as in any Analytical,
Electroanalytical or Environmental Chemistry Laboratory.
Sincerely,
Krzysztof A. Lewinski
