Supplement to LC/GC North America (February 2008) Application Notebook: Realizing Reliable, Ultra-Fast HPLC with Shim-pack XR-ODS II Column and Prominence UFLCXR by Shimadzu SHIMADZU WHO? Genzo Shimadzu... he's been dead since 1894! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ABSTRACT... the paper contains a one sentence... THIS ISN'T AN ABSTRACT! INTRODUCTION... acceptable! EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS... most research papers label this section METHODS! Shimadzu supposedly sells all that fancy analytical equipment (eg. diode array detectors, LC-MS detectors, evaporative light scattering detector, etc) and they use nothing more than a single wavelength UV detector set at 245 nm in THIS paper. Why aren't these lowlifes developing new techniques to measure novel compounds (other than alkylphenones which are synthesized by most freshman college students in their very first organic chemistry course) using their so-called cutting edge technologies. First of all, Shimadzu is a follower, not a LEADER, so don't expect any new techniques anytime soon. Second, there is nothing novel about the name Shimadzu (aka SHIT-madzu) nor the compounds they pretend to measure. Thirdly, none of these so-called cutting-edge technologies that Shimadzu manufactureres work well in the real world. And they surely don't have the scientific brain-power to make that happen at the customer site (because Terry L Adams is too busy chasing women's skirts since his divorce)... he's not even a degreed scientist either! RESULTS... minimally acceptable! DISCUSSION... THERE ISN'T ONE! But let's discuss the tireless shit streaming from Shimadzu. Shimadzu doesn't deliver anything... but SHIT! What notable journals (Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Analytical Biochemistry, Journal of Chromatography, etc) can one find an authentic HPLC article that actually uses Shimadzu instrumentation. THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED FOR YEARS WITH NO ANSWERS PROVIDED! CONCLUSION... acceptable! REFERENCES... THERE AREN'T ANY! Does Shimadzu want everyone in the "real" world to believe that they developed the METHODS described in THIS paper all by themselves... without any help from the scientific literature? The HPLC of alkylphenones was successfully completed and published over 30 years ago according to an article by E. J. Kikta, Jr., et al. entitled "Phenones: A Family of Compounds Broadly Applicable to Use as Internal Standards in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography." J. Chromatogr., 138, 41 (1977), which "disclosed another standards for evaluating the reverse phase HPLC columns, which comprises alkylphenones each having various chain length. The alkylphenones all have the same ketone functionality but different polarities due to the various chain lengthes of the alkyl chains." WHY DIDN'T SHIMADZU GIVE PROPER CREDIT? The publication of such 8th grade rubbish (which one would expect from a class of 8th graders) as noted in THIS paper (please note this was not labeled a "scientific paper" because Shimadzu and the word "science" don't belong in the same sentence) by a so-called analytical instrumentation company is absolutely AMAZING... and yet abysmal. It is yet further evidence of the shortcuts and half-ass support & service you can expect from a company that STILL doesn't know how to "deliver" anything but SHIT-madzu! Does PITTCON give out a $HIT AWARD... Shimadzu would be the walk-away winner! http://shimadzu-sux.iscool.net http://www.geocities.com/shitmadzu
