For examples, the metals are almost all either FCC or a variant of HCP, and most of the others are still simple things like BCC. However, elemental boron has a most spectacular crystal structure, e.g. http://www.webelements.com/webelements/elements/text/B/xtal.html. Was it a slow day so the Deity decided to have a little fun?
