I am a third year medical student that has a high interest in
computers. Are there any programs that mix these two fields of
science?
Thanks in advance,
MG

('programs' ?)
Work areas: Yes:
AI/ Expert Systems -- as for medical diagnosis;
Image processing/ analysis -- processing CAT/ NMR scans, X-ray plates;
(General programming -- relieve medics from admin tasks!; :-)
As for somewhere to LEARN about all this...
Over here in the UK you could complete a medic degree and then take
a one year taught 'computers' MSc, taking whatever modules were of
interest. Manchester would be good due to large computer and medical
departments with good links between the two.
Computer projects for medical applications are available.
Martin.

If your interests are in biochemistry/mol. biol. aspects of medicine, there are countless fields of research, incl. computer analysis of structure, computer-aided design of drugs/inhibitors, general simulation of molecules, computer assisted analysis of spectroscopy....
