Background: Type II crypto-deives are the NSA suggested replacement for DES-based security devices. The NSA controls the keys (!) and the spares (!). Does anyone have any info on the proposed NSA Type II crypto-devices? All I've heard are rumors and vague promises about them. I don't even know the algorithm(s?) that are to be used. Unfortunately, I'd guess that this issue falls into the normal security dichotomy: those that know don't talk; those that talk don't know. I'm still interested in any stuff.... Bob Devine
