Does anyone know eher I can get my hands on the source code (or 
algorythm) for the Unix password encry. scheme???

You may try

	ftp.denet.dk:/pub/gnu/glibc-1.04-crypt.tar

This is a version of the UFC-crypt implementation of crypt(3) packaged
for inclusion in the forthcoming GNU C library rev. 1.04.
There's no import restrictions for americans :-)
