I don't have access the this (sci.crypt) Newsgroup
so please ONLY respond to my question via E-mail
    "tom.rollins@p5555.f349.n109.z1.fidonet.org"

My Question:
I know about the several DES encryption methods:
        ECB - Electronic Code Book
        CBC - Cipher Block Chaining
        CFB - Cipher Feed Back
        OFB - Output Feed Back
        MAC - Message Authentication Code
        KSG - Key Stream Generator

All these methods encrypt data 64 bits at a time.
It has been suggested that I use a 1 bit or 8 bit
CFB (Cipher Feed Back). Now I understand how to
feed back 1 or 4 bits, But don't understand how
it would improve the basic method. And it would
add a lot of processing time to the encryption /
    decryption.

                                Thanks....
                                Tom Rollins
